All 9,567 finishers of the DC Half, put back on the course they actually ran. The route is traced from the official race map along OpenStreetMap road centrelines — 13.11 miles, checked against all thirteen mile markers. Elevation comes from USGS 3DEP: the course never climbs above 30 ft and gains 90 ft in total. It is flat.
Each runner carries five measured positions — 1 mile, 5K, 5 miles, 10 miles and the finish — plus their real start-line offset, which is why the field pours over the mat for half an hour instead of leaving all at once. Movement between those five points is interpolated, not measured. This is a reconstruction, not a GPS replay.
Filtering dims the rest of the field rather than removing it, so a selection keeps its context. Drag to pan, pinch or scroll to zoom.
